SCOOBY NEWSLETTER – May 1, 2010
UNIFORM PICK-UP
Our uniform pick up day will be Saturday May 15th between 10am and 12 noon at the Brant Hills Community Centre, 2255 Brant Street, Burlington. Please mark it on your calendar. When you arrive, you will see posters with your child's age group (ie. U4 Burlington - 2006). Go to that table and a volunteer will be happy to get your child's uniform.
Important!
You will also receive a receipt. This is your official receipt. Please hang on to it for income tax purposes for 2010.Insurance
- Attached please find an insurance waiver form. Please print it, read it, sign it and bring it with you on uniform day. We will have copies at Brant Hills, but things will movequicker if you have it signed and ready to hand in to us. Thanks!!!
We are still looking for coaches
in the following age groups:Friday U6 - 2 coaches required
Friday U7 - 2 coaches required
Saturday Girls 9+ - 1 coach required
Waterdown U5 - 1 coach required
Your only commitment is to the once per week session, and we will provide you with the practice plan for each week’s session. Please let me know if you can coach your child’s team.

We are still looking for coaches for our U3 division in Waterdown. This is a program that requires parent participation, so we look to Grade 12 or university age students to coach the
teams. If you know of someone who may be interested, please pass along our contact info. Our program runs Tuesday nights at 5:45 pm. The programs are 6 weeks long.
Snacks
- We do not organize a snack schedule and leave it to individual teams to organize if they choose to do so. Please be mindful of children with allergies and never bring nut products to the field.Absolute Soccer
(4104 Fairview Street, Burlington) will give SCOOBY players a discount on items purchased in their store. Just mention your child is registered with SCOOBY to receive the discount.Shoe Exchange
- If you have soccer shoes that no longer fit your child, please consider donating them to another child. We will have a table set up for you to leave your surplus shoes.Hopefully you will be able to find a pair at the table that will fit your child. We can do this with shin pads as well.
Parking
- If you can walk to the field please do so. Parking will be tight at all locations due to a 30% growth rate in our programs.U3 Saturday - Please leave immediately following your session to make room for the next group coming in. You are finished at 9:45am and the next group comes in at 10:00am. Your
cooperation is appreciated.
U4/5/6 Saturday - Please do not arrive too early to the field as parking will be limited. The U3's are finished at 9:45 and this will free up space for you once they have left.
Equipment
- We will provide each child with a soccer ball, jersey, shorts and socks. All players MUST have shin pads. Soccer shoes (no metal studs) or running shoes are acceptable footwear.Most of our age groups are
full, however we would like to add more teams to our U9-U12 ages for both boys and girls. If you know of someone who may be interested in playing soccer this year, please recommend our league. . Just ask them to go to our website at www.scoobysoccer.com.Photo Day Schedule
- the schedule will be on your regular schedule as well as below. You will get an order form in your uniform package if you wish to order individual photos. We will provide a team photo to each player only.Friday night teams - June 11th

Community Notices
- Jen Parker is our Technical Coach for Burlington and a school teacher at EC Drury HS in Milton. The high school needs some support from the community for a couple of projects that are dear to them.1) Cancer Affects Us All - Our last newsletter included the following item:
Two students at EC Drury HS are battling cancer and the school is supporting some events to raise money to support the families of the two boys. Please go to www.ecd.hdsb.ca to find out how you can help.
I am sorry to report that Jeff Roy lost his battle just after Easter weekend. Thank you to all those who supported the school in their efforts.

, a parent and volunteer with our program, will be participating in the walk to "End Women's Cancer" with the Princess Margaret Hospital. Please visit Debbie's homepage to learn more and donate to a very worthy cause. http://www.endcancer.ca2) EC Drury is raising funds to build a school in earthquake torn Haiti. The cost to build one school is $8000 and they are already half way there. We will have a jar at uniform pick up day for you to drop your spare change into and help this worthy cause.
